A stray bullet tragically ended the life of Brianna Long, a former high school soccer star in Georgia, as she was finishing her shift at a bar.

The incident occurred when a shooting took place outside The Pier bar in Remerton around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, after the bar had closed to customers at 2 a.m.

Despite being rushed to South Georgia Medical Center, Long unfortunately passed away. Authorities are currently still on the lookout for the person responsible for the shooting.

Paulding County High School has announced that Long has been chosen as the Regional Winner for Positive Athlete Georgia out of a pool of 5,000 students.

The GBI has reported that several vehicles were shot during the incident and there were still a number of customers outside the bar when the shooting occurred. An autopsy will be conducted by a GBI medical examiner.

The bar, where Long was employed as a bartender, posted a statement on Instagram expressing their grief over the tragic and sudden loss of Brianna Long.

They stated that writing the statement felt impossible and that the situation was incredibly devastating, comparing it to a terrible nightmare that they all wished they could wake up from.

The bar expressed that finding the appropriate words is challenging due to the unsettling nature of the situation. Bri was deeply cherished by all who knew her for her warmth and affections, which she generously bestowed upon everyone fortunate enough to cross paths with her.

The investigation is still in progress, and individuals possessing any relevant information concerning the case are urged to contact either the GBI Thomasville Office at 229-225-4090 or the Remerton Police Department at 229-247-2320.
