Asuu strike update – There have been speculations and news of Asuu going on strike, is this true? This and many other updates and news from Asuu will be revealed on this page.

In the month of March this year, Assu declared an Indefinite strike in Taraba state. After a Unions Congress meeting, the Taraba State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) made this known to the press

The reason for this action was the inability of the Government to meet up with the demands of the Union in paying the academic staff earned allowance, promotional arrears, and fractional payments

The Asuu Chairman of Taraba State, Mr. Samuel Shitaa also noted that apart from these reasons, the government has also failed to implement the premier fencing of the institution and the nonimplementation of agreements

Reacting to the action, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education in Tarabbas state, Mr. Edward Baraya said that the State Government is not aware of this action as Asuu has not communicated this to the Government

He further noted that this present government is doing everything in its power to fix things before leaving office and shouldn’t be met with such actions at this point

Also reacting to this was the was mr Bala Dan-Abu, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity as he noted that the present government is not owing any workers.
