Chief Keef is a singer, songwriter, rapper, and record producer from Chicago U.S. He received attention for his music in his teenage years among high school students from the South Side of Chicago.

In 2012, his popular street song ‘I Don’t Like was remixed by rapper Kanye West to further increase his profile and the song reached the Billboard Rap Top 20, raising Chief Keef net worth and popularity.

Keith Farrelle Cozart (alias Chief Keef) was born on August 15, 1995, in Chicago, Illinois, United States to Lolita Carter and Alfonso Cozart.

For most of his childhood years, Keef lived at the Parkway Garden Homes around the Washington Park neighborhood.

He started to rap in his childhood years, and attended Dulles Elementary School and also Banner School. He attended Dyett High School but dropped out at age 15.

Chief initially got local recognition with his mixtapes, “Bang” and “The Glory Road”. After being arrested, and placed under house arrest, he posted many videos on his YouTube channel which received a lot of attention.

Chief Keef’s career started to get some attention when he signed with Interscope Records in 2012 and released his first studio album “Finally Rich” in December of that same year.

He has since released other studio albums and has kept himself busy with the release of “Back from the Dead” which is his most critically acclaimed mixtape.

After being dropped by the Interscope record label in 2014, Chief Keef released his album titled ‘Nobody’ in November of that year.

In 2018, Keef released more mixtapes, such as “Mansion Musick” and “Back from the Dead 3”, and more mixtapes in “The Leek series”. He also featured more musicians such as G Herbo, Playboi Carti, and Soulja Boy.

For both his gangster image and musical style, many publications have referred to Keef as an influential figure in contemporary hip-hop.

Personal Life

Keef became a father at age 16 with a  girlfriend whom he had already broken up with. He soon became a father of two more kids, with claims from many women who claimed he was the father of their children.

The rapper was unmoved and never responded to legal documents, and this put him in a lot of trouble.

Chief Keef is known to be always ready for his family. He introduced three of his cousins to his own record label. However, his family’s criminal history became the cause of the death of one of his cousins Mario Hess, which left him devastated.

Keef is currently living in Los Angeles and says that the city is silent, and different from the chaos that New York.


During his teenage life, Keef was arrested many times. In 2011 when he was just 16, he was arrested and put under house arrest for possessing heroin.
