Popularly referred to as ‘Don’ by his fans, Donnie Wayne Johnson is a popular American actor, singer, songwriter, producer, and director. Initially, he dreamed of becoming a professional bowler but later began to find acting interesting after having to play a part in his school’s theater programs.

Donnie Wayne Johnson was born in Crane, Missouri, United States, on December 15, 1949, to a farmer named Wayne Fred Johnson and his wife Nell who was a beautician. At the time of his birth, his father and mother were 19 and 17 years old, respectively. He was raised in extreme lack in Wichita in Kansas, where his parents moved to when he was 6 years old.

During his time at Wichita South High School from which he graduated, he was actively involved in the school’s theater program. As a senior, he acted in ‘West Side Story’ where he played the lead role of Tony. He had appeared in “The Hullabaloo” and “Burnt Cork and Melody” previously.

After graduating from high school Don enrolled at the University of Kansas in 1967 to major in theater, but dropped out one year later and subsequently moved to San Francisco in California to study at the American Conservatory Theater.

His career started in 1969 and was marked by an appearance in the stage production titled, ‘Fortune and Men’s Eyes.’ The following year, he was cast in the film ‘The Magic Garden of Stanley Sweetheart.’ He then appeared in the 1974 Filipino movie ‘Lollipops, Roses, and Talangka’.
