Early life

On August 3, 1979, in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Lily was born. Her mother, a produce manager, and father, a home economics teacher, brought up her in British Columbia.

Lilly graduated from W. J. Mouat Secondary School in Abbotsford, British Columbia. To pay for her tuition, she worked as a waitress, did “oil changes and grease jobs on big rig trucks,” and was a flight attendant for Royal Airlines.

Her enthusiasm for humanitarian causes and global development urged her to major in International Relations at the University of British Columbia.

Early career 2002–2003

Lilly’s acting career started when a Ford Modelling Agency agent found her while she was passing the time in Kelowna, British Columbia. She took the agent’s business card but did not pursue acting right away.

She eventually called, and the agency landed her a few commercial roles as well as non-speaking roles in the TV shows Smallville and Kingdom Hospital. She also appeared on the gaming television channel G4TV in a video game news and review show.

Breakthrough with Lost 2004–2007

A friend urged Lilly to audition for ABC’s Lost, and she had no idea she’d be cast. Because of the secrecy campaign, auditioning actors could not see the full script, could only read short scenes and were only aware of the basic premise of people who survive the plane crash.
