Ex-Police Officer Apprehended by Law Enforcement for Theft, Retrieving Weapons and Stolen Vehicle

Several individuals involved in different criminal activities have been apprehended, according to the Abia State Police Command.

In a statement made by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, ASP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, the arrests were announced on behalf of the State’s Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie.

The PPRO disclosed that a former officer named Francis Williams was apprehended by officers from Ndiegoro Divisional Police headquarters on September 11, 2023. Williams was caught in the act of trying to steal an electricity transformer owned by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) in Aba.

In accordance with the statement, the officer who was terminated is reported to be 34 years old. He was apprehended while wearing a Police camouflage outfit and a fez cap, and was also found in possession of a counterfeit warrant card.

Additionally, the suspect has been formally charged and will face court proceedings.

The Command also announced the arrest of a male named Chukwuemeka London, aged 35, for illegal possession of firearms on September 20, 2023.

According to the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), London was apprehended after a report was filed against him at Ugwunagbo Police Station.

Subsequently, authorities discovered and seized one locally made long single-barrel gun and one locally made short single-barrel gun from London.

According to Abia Police, detectives conducted a raid at Ehere Secondary School in Aba based on reliable information. The raid uncovered a suspected criminal hideout where several individuals were apprehended. The arrested suspects include Kelechi Kalu (25 years old), Nnanna Nwogu (35 years old), Chika Ugochukwu (33 years old), Ndubuisi Chikere (38 years old), Check Bowel (45 years old), Ugochukwu Monday (20 years old), Grace Chika (27 years old), and Owe Mary (20 years old).

During the operation, law enforcement confiscated a significant amount of what is believed to be Indian hemp, along with quantities of Tramadol, Tiazopam, Refnor, and Simnor tablets.

The suspects have undergone a thorough investigation and have been taken to court, where they have been remanded, as stated in the official announcement.

In the same vein, the Abia Police Command said personnel from Counter-Terrorist Unit on September 24, 2023, intercepted a tricycle with five-male occupants namely Chinedu Ukachukwu (male) 23 years, Chibueze Nwokocha (male) 25 years, Steve Okafor (male) 17 years Uche Awa (male) 23 years and Chisom Chijioke (male) 17 years

It said that a search led to the discovery of a cut-to-size locally fabricated single-barrel shot gun loaded with live cartridges.

The statement said the case is under investigation by the Monitoring Unit, Umuahia
