His father, Gordon James Senior passed away in the year 1997. Before his demise, he worked as a welder, shopkeeper, and swimming pool manager. His mother Helen was a nurse.

Gordon Ramsay’s first love was for soccer. While growing up, he set his sights on taking up a professional sports career. At the age of 15, he joined the Scottish football club Glasgow Rangers, and spent a period of 3 years with the professional football club until 1985 when a knee injury ended his career in football.

At the end of his studies, Gordan Ramsay put himself under the guidance of some of Europe’s top chefs. He apprenticed at Harvey’s in London, and worked for Albert Roux at the Le Gavroche, before working under master chefs Guy Savoy and Joel Robuchon in France.

In 1993, Gordon Ramsay took his own path as head chef of the newly opened Aubergine in London.
