On Thursday, Hamas claimed that “almost 50” Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip since the October 7 attacks have been killed due to Israeli bombing raids on Palestinian territory.

The statement from Hamas’ Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades, released on their Telegram channel, stated that the prisoners were killed as a result of Zionist strikes and massacres.

The claim has not been verified by AFP. In response to Hamas’ attacks on southern Israel, Israel launched a large-scale air and artillery bombardment on Gaza.

The Israeli army earlier reported that 224 people were abducted by militants during the attack, resulting in the death of 1,400 individuals, mostly civilians.

Military spokesman Daniel Hagari stated that the number of hostages may change based on the intelligence received.

Israeli government figures indicate that a significant portion, at least fifty percent, of the hostages possess passports from foreign countries, as reported by AFP.

This emphasizes the paramount importance placed on the endeavor to secure their safe release and bring the situation to a satisfactory resolution.
