Heath Andrew Ledger was an Australian actor and music video director who lived from April 4, 1979 – January 22, 2008. In 1998, Ledger left Australia, where he had appeared in several Australian TV and film productions, for the United States in order to further develop his acting career.

Ledger’s work comprised nineteen films, some of which include; 10 Things I Hate About You (1999),The Patriot (2000), A Knight’s Tale (2001), Monster’s Ball (2001), Lords of Dogtown (2005), Brokeback Mountain (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009). The Dark Knight and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus were posthumous releases.

Some of Heath Ledger net worth also comes from his involvement in producing and directing music videos. Heath also wanted to be a film director. Heath Ledger was aged 28 years when he died on 22 January 2008 in Soho, New York, U.S. He is buried at Karrakatta cemetery.

Heath Ledger was born in Perth, Western Australia. Ledger’s parents are Sally Ledger, who was a French teacher, and Kim Ledger, who was a racing car driver and a mining engineer. Later, he attended Guildford Grammar School, where he had his first acting experience, when he starred as Peter Pan at the age of ten, in a school production. They acted together in the movie, Ned Kelly (2003).

Concerning Heath Ledger’s death, he was found unconscious in his bed at about 3 pm on 22 January 2008, by his masseuse, Diana Wolozin, and his housekeeper, Teresa Solomon. The location was in his loft at 421 Broome Street in the Soho neighborhood of Manhattan. By the time paramedics and emergency medical personnel arrived at 3:33 pm, they were unable to revive him and Ledger was pronounced dead at 3:36 pm. His body was thereafter evacuated from the apartment.

On February 6, 2008, which was 2 weeks after the incident, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of New York released its conclusions, based on an initial autopsy on 23 January 2008 and a subsequent complete toxicological analysis.

The report finalizes, in part, that “Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine.” It states definitively: “We have concluded that the manner of death is an accident, resulting from the abuse of prescribed medications.”
