Khabib Abdulmanapovich Nurmagomedov, known professionally as Khabib Nurmangomedov was born on September 20, 1988. Khabib’s birthplace was in the village of Sildi, Tsumadinsky District, modern Dagestan, Russia. He has two siblings, a younger sister Amina, and an older brother, Magomed.

At the age of six, Khabib Nurmagomedov started wrestling under the guidance of his father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who is an Army veteran and a decorated athlete.

When Khabib Nurmagomedov arrived in the UFC from MMA he signed a six-fight deal in the competition’s lightweight division in 2011 and made his UFC debut in 2012.

Max Holloway was then replaced by Al LaQuinta to face Khabib Nurmagomedov. Khabib beat LaQuinta in their match, dominating from the beginning to the end of the match, and became the UFC Lightweight Champion.

He has been the UFC Lightweight champion since his victory against Al LaQuinta. He is also the first Russian and Muslim UFC Lightweight Champion.
