Kogi gubernatorial election: APC, PDP, SDP adopt strong stance, pledge victory

Leaders and chieftains from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) expressed confidence in their chances of winning the upcoming governorship election in Kogi State.

Governor Yahaya Bello and his commissioners, during the Third GYB Seminar for Nigeria’s Political and Crime Correspondents/Editors, highlighted the achievements of the APC in the last seven and a half years.

They believe that with the capable candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, the party will secure a landslide victory in the election. Governor Bello stated that Ododo understands the process and will take Kogi to greater heights.

Additionally, Bello mentioned his plans to retire after leaving office and spend time with his children.

According to him, he has achieved several accomplishments in the past seven and a half years. These achievements include dedicating 30 percent of the budget to education, resulting in the establishment of two new state universities and improved rankings for Kogi in the country.

He has also prioritized the security of Kogi, successfully driving out kidnappers and bandits from the state. The governor has assured that the upcoming election in November will be the most transparent, fair, and peaceful in the history of Kogi.

Additionally, the governor has focused on enhancing the financial stability of Kogi, making it the top state in Northern Nigeria for salary payments. He has also recruited over 1,500 teachers and allocated 16 percent of the budget to healthcare, leading to improvements in healthcare services through the construction of a modern 300-bed reference hospital in Okene.

Overall, these accomplishments have elevated the stature of Kogi both internally and externally.

Governor Bello expressed confidence that Ododo will emerge victorious and surpass his performance if elected as his successor.

He urged the people of Kogi to choose the APC candidate, highlighting his capabilities, experience, and understanding of the state’s development process and template.

Dino Melaye’s leadership will bring back progress in Kogi State, according to Adeleke. He made this statement during a meeting with PDP members in Kogi West.

Adeleke emphasized that when the PDP was in power, people in Kogi State had a better quality of life, with successful businesses and full salary payments. He urged the people of Kogi State to unite and save the state, promising an issue-focused campaign.

“Uniting all your political resources is of utmost importance in order to secure the opportunity of winning the governorship election this time around.

In addition, Senator Biodun Olujimi, the secretary of the national campaign council, emphasized the strong connections between the people of Ekiti State and Kogi West, expressing their strong desire to see PDP regain power in the state.

Among those in attendance at the meeting were Hajia Habibat Mohammed Deen, the deputy governorship candidate of the Kogi State PDP; Mr. Dakas Shan, PDP National Vice Chairman for the North Central region; Tajudeen Yusuf; Shaba Ibrahim; Dr. Steven Olorunfemi; Abiodun Ojo; Prince Inuwa Iyodo, Director General of the Dino/Habiba Campaign Organisation; Prince Richard Akanmode; Kola Ologbondiyan; Mohammed Etudaiye; Adakole Ijogi; Soji Olumorin; S.K Adekunle; and Adams Olorunmo, among others.”
