On October 11, 1966, Luke Perry was born in Mansfield Ohio, United States as Coy Luther Perry II. He grew up in Fredericktown under the care of his parents Coy Luther Perry Jr. and Ann Bennett. His father Coy Luther Perry Jr. worked as a steelworker while his mother Ann Bennett was simply a homemaker.

Moving to New York City presented better opportunities for the aspiring actor as he finally had early roles on daytime soap operas: an episode of “Loving” (1987–1988) and ten episodes of “Another World” (1988–1989). After all his hard work, he finally got his chance to play the main role in the television series “Beverly Hills, 90210” in 1990. This role was a good one for him as he became more famous in the media.

The show aired from 1990 to 1995, and again from 1998 to 2000, making a total of seven years. He made his film debut in 1991 in the film “Scorchers”, followed by several others such as “Redemption Road”, “Road Wing”, “8 Seconds”, “Descent”, and others.

Luke Perry got married to model Rachel Minnie Sharp in 1993. On June 15 1997 she gave birth to their son Jack Perry, and a daughter Sophie Perry followed three years later on June 7, 2000. They decided to share their children’s custody after their divorce in 2003.

In 2015, following a colonoscopy, it was made known to Luke Perry that he had a precancerous growth in his colon. He later underwent surgery to get rid of the growths. This experience led him to collaborate with the advocacy group “Fight Colorectal Cancer” as well as its national campaign “Strong Arm Selfie” in order to draw public attention to one of the most deadly forms of cancer and also encourage others to get screened.

On February 27, 2019, Luke Perry suffered an Ischemic stroke at his home in Sherman Oaks, L.A. California. On March 4, 2019, he passed away due to complications from a stroke.
