Her birth name is Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone and she was born on the 16th of August, 1958 in Bay City, Michigan. She was born to Silvio Tony Ciccone, an engineer, and Madonna Fortin, an x-ray technician, and a former dancer.

Madonna was the third child out of 6 children and was raised in a very religious household. She once admitted to having been “the sissy of the family”. She was raised in Michigan, however, she later moved to New York City later in life to pursue a career in modern dance.

Her mother passed away on the 1st of December at the age of 30 when Madonna was only 5 years old. The death of her mother affected her childhood and adolescence. She dropped out of college after she was given another scholarship but just for 6 weeks to study with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre in New York.  To survive after moving to New York, she did odd jobs such as nude modeling, serving Tea, and performing in a dance center.

In 1979, she began dating Dan Gilroy and he introduced her to the head of vaudeville review in Paris. She worked in France as a showgirl, it was during this period she fell in love with singing and performing. She got back to the United States the following year and became a drummer for Gilroy’s band until she became the lead singer. Madonna created her own brands as time went on.
