Mike Tyson is a well-known American professional boxer who started his career in 1985 and retired in 2005. He won the title of heavyweight champion at just 20 years old making him the youngest boxer to ever achieve that. He is the only boxer worldwide to hold and unify the WBC, IBF, and WBA titles simultaneously.
His first professional fight was by knockout winning 12 of them in the first round. His WBC title was in 1986 after defeating Trevor Berbick and he defeated Tony Tucker and James Smith in 1987 earning the IBF and WBA titles.
The following year, he defeated Michael Spinks after just 91 seconds and earned the lineal Champion. After this, he defended his titles defeating boxers like Frank Bruno and Larry Holmes.
However, he lost the title when Buster Douglas defeated him in a match. In 1991, with the hopes of reclaiming his titles, he had victory in his match with Donovan Ruddock two times and later withdrew from a fight with Evander Holyfield because he was injured in a rib.

Mike Tyson was born Michael Gerard Tyson to Purcell Tyson and Lorna Mae Smith in Brooklyn, New York on the 30th of June, 1966. He has 2 siblings, an elder brother, Rodney, and an elder sister, Denise (deceased). Although his biological father is a Jamaican man named Purcell, he was raised by Jimmy Kirkpatrick whom he recognizes as his father.
Purcell met Lorna in 1959 and he abandoned the family after Lorna had a baby, Mike. Tyson’s mother raised the family on her own while Kirkpatrick was living the street life. He passed away in 1992.
When Mike was just 10 years old, the family moved to Brownsville because of an increment in finances. At the age of 16 years, Tyson was training as a boxer with a trainer by the name of Cus D’Amato who became his legal guardian when his mother passed away suddenly.
As a child, he lived in a neighborhood with a high rate of crime. His first experience with fighting was with a much older youth after the latter removed the head of one of Mike’s pigeons. He was caught committing petty crimes when he was younger and by the time he was 13 years, he had already been arrested 38 times.
As for education, he attended Tryon Schools for Boys in New York where he was discovered as a boxer by a former boxer, Bobby Stewart. Mr. Stewart trained Tyson for a few months and later introduced him to Cus D’Amato.

His first year playing professional fight was how he rose to stardom. Out of 28 fights, Mike won 26 via knockout (KO) or technical knockout (TKO).
