During the Coroner’s Inquest on Wednesday, October 25, the mother of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, disclosed that her son had consistently protected her from any potential harm inflicted by his former label boss, Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, and his associate, Sam Larry.
She stated that they frequently harassed Mohbad, causing him to live in constant fear. Expressing her concern, Abosede revealed that Mohbad would always mention them and appear frightened.
Despite her pleas to speak with them on his behalf, he would refuse, fearing for her safety and stating that he didn’t want them to harm her.
“My son informed me that Naira Marley had assaulted him after he returned from a show. He reported the incident to the police, but I am unsure if the police summoned him for questioning.”
During her testimony before Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, Abosede disclosed that she and her son had a better relationship in 2019. The mother stated that he warned her not to speak about the bullying and physical abuse he was experiencing.
Abosede further revealed that she and her husband approached Naira Marley to address the conflict with their son. “I asked Mohbad to contact Pasuma and inform him about Naira Marley’s constant attacks, and Pasuma assured us that he would intervene.
Mohbad repeatedly advised me to remain silent. I only learned of his injuries four days later, and Naira Marley was the only person he had a problem with,” explained Abosede.
