The House of Representatives has summoned the controversial singer Naira Marley and Mohbad’s manager, Jiggy Adeoye, in an effort to secure the musical rights of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
The House Committee on Justice, Youth and Legislative Compliance has requested their appearance on October 31. Mohbad, who was previously signed to Naira Marley’s record label, passed away on September 12, 2023, under questionable circumstances.
The Lagos State Government has initiated a coroner’s inquest into the singer’s death.
On Thursday, a motion put forward by Babajimi Benson, the legislator representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Lagos State, resulted in the approval of the House resolution.
Benson stressed the importance of revisiting the legislation governing the entertainment sector in order to protect the copyrights and royalties of artists.
