Nigeria’s Government Declares Closure of Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos for Repairs

According to the Nigerian government, the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State will be closed for repairs from midnight on Saturday, October 21 to midnight on Sunday, October 22. Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, stated that the government will be conducting a comprehensive rehabilitation project on the bridge, starting with fixing the most important sections.

Kesha further informed the public that the Federal Government is currently planning to carry out extensive repairs on the Third Mainland Bridge.

The Ministry will be performing temporary repairs on the severely damaged sections of the bridge in order to reduce the current discomfort.

This will take place on Sunday, Oct. 22. For smooth traffic flow, the spokesperson advised drivers to comply with the diversions instructed by traffic management officials.

However, she also suggested that motorists consider using alternate routes during the palliative works, as the Adeniji bound of the bridge will be closed to traffic from Saturday, Oct. 21 until Sunday, Oct. 22 at 12.00 midnight.
