PDP Governor Diri asserts Supreme Court verdict: My visit to Tinubu requires no explanation

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has declared that he does not owe anyone an explanation for his visit to President Bola Tinubu following the Supreme Court’s ruling on the presidential election.

Diri dismissed claims made by the opposition, stating that they are spreading falsehoods and becoming increasingly nervous about his visit to Tinubu. A video emerged showing Diri congratulating Tinubu after the Supreme Court affirmed his victory in the election.

Nevertheless, Diri maintains that there was nothing out of the ordinary about his visit to Tinubu. He made these remarks during the visit of the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship campaign trail in Igbedi community, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Diri stated that he had the freedom to congratulate President Tinubu after the Supreme Court ruling on the presidential election.

He clarified that his visit to the presidential villa was to discuss important state matters with the president, who responded positively to the issues raised. The governor addressed the opposition’s attempts to spread falsehoods, stating that he is under no obligation to explain his visit to the president as a sitting governor.

He emphasized that his visit was not solely for congratulatory purposes, but also for significant state business, and expressed satisfaction with the president’s attention to the concerns raised.
