Police in Adamawa State have reported that a rape survivor mutilated the private parts of a 75-year-old Nigerian man.

A75-year-old man, Daniel Jaja, has suffered a serious injury for allegedly attempting to rape a 25-year-old woman (name withheld) in Adamawa State.

The rape victim was reportedly armed with a razor blade which she used to cut Jaja’s private parts after he overpowered her and was about to commit the act.

According to the police, the incident occurred on October 18, 2023 in Mukuvinyi village, located in the Hong Local Government Area of the state. The spokesperson for the state police, SP Suleiman Nguroje, announced on Tuesday that the 75-year-old perpetrator has been taken into custody.

The suspect, identified as Daniel Jaja, a 75-year-old resident of Mukuvinyi village in the Hong local government area, allegedly lured his victim to his house and forcefully attempted to engage in sexual intercourse with her against her will. However, she bravely resisted his advances.

According to the ongoing investigation, it appears that the victim used a razor blade to defend herself, successfully preventing the suspect’s erect penis from penetrating her. As a result, the suspect sustained significant injuries and is currently being treated in the hospital.

Expressing his strong disapproval of the incident, Commissioner of Police Afolabi Babatola has instructed the officer in charge of the Family Support Unit to take over the investigation and ensure that the suspect is thoroughly prosecuted.

The police chief urged all individuals in the community, especially those residing in rural areas, to promptly provide any relevant information to the police regarding individuals with criminal inclinations who regularly engage in gender-based offenses.
