SaharaReporters had earlier reported that the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday sacked Senator Abbo, a candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) who was earlier declared winner of the March 25 at the National Assembly election.

The sacked Nigerian federal lawmaker from Adamawa State, Senator Elisha Abbo, representing Adamawa North senatorial district, has accused, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, of being behind the nullification of his election at the Court of Appeal.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday sacked Senator Abbo, a candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) who was earlier declared winner of the March 25 at the National Assembly election.

In response to the court’s decision, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was instructed to revoke Senator Abbo’s Certificate of Return and issue it to Rev. Amos Yohanna Kumai of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Senator Abbo expressed his reaction to the judgment on his verified Facebook page, stating that his election has been voided and that he will address the press soon.

Addressing the press at his location, Abbo claimed that there is a plot to remove four other senators, including Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who opposed the appointment of Akpabio as Senate President, from the Senate through legal means.

According to the Daily Trust, he stated that he received information from a reliable source that he and four other senators from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would be removed from the Senate through court rulings because they worked against the emergence of Akpabio as President of the 10th Senate.

He did not disclose the names of the other senators but mentioned that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu would be next.

He expressed surprise that despite winning by a margin of over 11,000 votes in the election, his victory was overturned by the Appeal Court. Abbo called the court judgement strange and urged the judiciary to be the last hope for the common man.

He appealed to his supporters to remain calm and stated his intention to re-contest in 2027. However, there is no information available at the time of this report regarding Akpabio’s response to the allegation.
