Ali Ndume, the Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, has criticized Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, for approving the passage of executive bills without consulting other members.

Ndume expressed his disapproval in a video from Thursday’s session, highlighting Akpabio’s failure to follow proper reading procedures and seek contributions from fellow senators.

Ali Ndume, representing the Borno South Senatorial District, criticizes Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, for allowing the passage of executive bills without consulting other members. Senator Ogoshi Onawo of the Peoples Democratic Party, representing Nasarawa State, also disapproves of Akpabio’s rush to pass certain bills.

They believe that important bills should not be hastily approved as it is not beneficial for the country.

Each senator present is expected to be well-informed, conducting thorough research and making valuable contributions. However, when even bills involving financial matters are rushed to be passed within a two-hour timeframe, it is not in the best interest of the country.

In response to Onawo’s remark, Akpabio declared, “Sir, as you hold your position today, history will assess that actions of this nature are detrimental to our country.”

Acknowledging Onawo’s comment, Akpabio countered, “If the bills we pass serve the best interests of our nation, history will vindicate me. I firmly believe that we do not come here to pass bills that are not in the best interest of Nigerians. Therefore, I have taken note of your point of order.”
