Sokoto man says he's receiving death threats for supporting Peter Obi

A citizen of Sokoto State reported getting death threats for supporting Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Nigeria’s 2023 election.

Muslim Jamilu Sufi revealed this on Twitter.

He said that he has been getting death threats through telephone. He said that the individual has also threatened to harm his wife if Sufi does not withdraw his support for Mr. Obi.

“I don’t succumb to blackmail and threats,” Mr Sufi said in the post.

He provided the phone number of the man who has been phoning to make threats and noted that this individual is conversant in Igbo and Hausa.

He penned: “He eventually contacted my wife and threatened to murder her as well. Although I blocked him, he and other guys continued.”

According to him, the individual also sent him voice messages over WhatsApp and made death threats.

He stated that he has reported the incident to the Sokoto State police.
