President Bola Tinubu has submitted a Supplementary Budget proposal to the National Assembly, stating his intention to allocate more than N6.9 billion towards purchasing vehicles for the State House.
Additionally, he has allocated N1.5 billion specifically for new cars for the Office of the First Lady. It is worth noting that President Tinubu had previously sent a Supplementary Budget of N2.17 trillion to the National Assembly for approval.
The government intends to allocate N2.9 billion for Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) at the Presidential Villa and an additional N2.9 billion to replace vehicles in the pool. However, this decision has been met with backlash due to the ongoing protests against the National Assembly’s plan to purchase vehicles worth N75 billion.
Young individuals in Lagos and Abuja have expressed their dissatisfaction with the lawmakers’ decision, especially considering the current challenging economic situation in Nigeria.
Furthermore, the proposed supplementary budget includes a plan to spend N28 billion on the State House and an additional N12.5 billion for the Presidential air fleet.
