On Monday, in a joint operation by the troops of the Joint Task Force North West Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), the bandits were eliminated in Zamfara and Kebbi State.
The ongoing campaign against banditry resulted in the death of several terrorists and the destruction of their hiding places. Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, spokesperson for Operation Hadarin Daji, revealed this in a statement to Channels Television on Tuesday.
He explained that on October 30, the Special Forces troops of OPHD carried out a combat patrol based on credible information about terrorist activities in Sangeko forest in Kebbi State.
The troops quickly responded and engaged the terrorists in a fierce battle, overpowering them with their superior firepower.
Three terrorists were killed, while others managed to escape with serious gunshot wounds. Additionally, two motorcycles were discovered and immediately destroyed.
In a recent development, troops from the OPHD engaged in a major operation to clear out bandits in the area. During this operation, the notorious leader, Dogo Gide, narrowly escaped death but sustained serious gunshot injuries. As his followers fled, the troops discovered and destroyed his hiding places.
The troops targeted several villages in Zamfara state, including Dansadau, Mai Tukunya, and Babban Doka, where Dogo Gide had been hiding.
They successfully infiltrated Dogo Gide’s residence at Yau Sarkin Pawa House, thoroughly searched the premises, and demolished it.
Various items were found in Dogo Gide’s house, including a sewing factory used to make uniforms for military and security agencies, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), a suspected pharmacy for treating injured terrorists, five operational motorcycles, and sewing machines. These items were immediately set on fire.
The brave soldiers of the OPHD bravely pushed forward in their attack against the terrorist bandits, successfully clearing out Malele, Mutunji, Kwana, Kamatso, Kememe, and Kango villages, which were being used as hideouts by the terrorists.
Additionally, the troops uncovered and eliminated hideouts of the bandits in Koli, Bakin Dutse, and Farin Ruwa villages, where they promptly destroyed four motorcycles and mobile phones that were being used by the terrorists.
