Mark Harmon (born Thomas Mark Harmon) is an American actor and television personality. He has played many important roles in film since he began acting in the early 1970s.

Initially, a college footballer, his role in the film St. Elsewhere made him titled the “Sexiest Man Alive” by the magazine, People, in 1986. After spending most of the 1990s as a character actor, talented mark played Simon Donovan, a Secret Service special agent in The West Wing.

He has two sisters — Kristin Nelson the late painter and actress who has divorced Rick Nelson the late singer, and Kelly Harmon the model and actress formerly married to John DeLorean. His maternal grandparents were Austrian immigrants.
